America’s Last $1 Gold Coin Series
Soaring gold prices and historical value combine to make this vintage coin a hot collectible item. Struck in .900 fine gold, it is from the United States Mint’s last series of $1 gold coins struck for circulation. This coin is commonly known as a Type III Gold Indian because it is the third design to appear on the $1 gold coin. With a date range of 1856 to 1889, this series saw everything from the Civil War to the ensuing Reconstruction as well as Custer’s Last Stand to the Industrial Revolution.
