Say “Aloha!” to an exotic set of coins issued by the Kingdom of Hawaii over 125 years ago! Struck in 1883 during the reign of King Kalakaua I, these certified $1, 50¢ and 25¢ coins were produced on the same planchets used for U.S. coins of the same denomination. After Hawaii became a U.S. territory in 1900, the legal tender status of the coins was removed and most were withdrawn from circulation and melted.
