Say “Aloha!” to an exotic set of coins issued by the Kingdom of Hawaii over 125 years ago! Struck in 1883 during the reign of King Kalakaua I, these certified 50¢ and 25¢ coins were produced on the same planchets used for U.S. coins of the same denomination. After Hawaii became a U.S. territory in 1900, the legal tender status of the coins was removed and most were withdrawn from circulation and melted.
