These Military Payment Certificates (MPCs) were used by U.S. troops overseas during the Vietnam War. Issued to help avoid using American currency in enemy territory, these notes were used by soldiers to make purchases on the military base. They are popular because of the image of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds flying in formation on the reverse of the note.
