| Fifty years before the Revolution, Colonial America had a difficult time making change. But thanks to a 'gift' from Ireland, commerce continued. These 1723 Irish Half Penny coins feature Hibernia, the Roman allegorical symbol for Ireland. The Irish didn't like them, however, so many were shipped to America. Over 280 years old, many of these coins actually circulated in the original 13 Colonies! |
