| His name may have meant “Steel,” but this 2-coin set honoring Soviet Dictator Josef Stalin’s 70th birthday is struck in precious silver. Issued by Czechoslovakia for one year only in 1949, each 50- and 100-Korun coin features images of the Czech Lion and Stalin’s menacing visage. Stalin was the undisputed leader of the USSR from 1929 until his death in 1953. He helped convert Communism in the USSR from a revolutionary movement into a bureaucratic governmental system. Stalin’s era was a paradox of ominous institutionalized terror and great industrial leadership. A true Cold War-era collectible, order now to obtain one of these scarce treasures. Extremely Fine to About Uncirculated condition. |
